Because we provide both medical and routine eye care, we accept a number of insurance plans to help cover the cost depending on your individual needs.
At Fava and Maria Eye Associates, we accept medical insurance but do not participate in any vision insurance plans. The distinction between medical and vision insurance often leads to questions, and we’re here to clarify and assist.
Medical insurance typically covers eye care related to medical issues, such as eye infections, injuries, dry eye treatment, cataracts, or conditions like diabetes and glaucoma. When a visit involves a medical diagnosis or concern, it falls under medical insurance, which we are able to bill for you. Vision insurance, on the other hand, primarily covers routine eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses. These plans focus on the state of your vision rather than underlying medical issues and are structured to support regular vision care rather than medical treatment.
Although we don’t directly participate in vision insurance, we can help guide you in coordinating with your vision plan for potential reimbursement for eligible services. Our team is here to help answer questions and assist with any paperwork you might need for submission
