Dr. Maria is a native Pennsylvanian and completed his undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Scranton. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Dr. Maria went on to serve as an Army physician and completed his internship at Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, TX, and served as a flight surgeon in Wiesbaden, Germany. He returned to Washington, D.C., for his ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he was appointed Chief Resident.
After completing his military career in 1992, he joined Dr. Fava in practice at the eye treatment center. He provides complete eye exams with comprehensive medical and eye surgery options. As an ophthalmologist specialist, he also specializes in cataract eye surgery and cataract treatment, laser surgery, and oculoplastic surgery. Additionally, Dr. Maria provides expertise in cosmetic facial enhancements including Botox, Restylane, and Microdermabrasion.
Outside of his work at the eye treatment and laser eye center practice, Dr. Maria is active in organized ophthalmologist specialist groups at the state and national level and was a past president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Maria also serves as a congressional liaison for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has helped author a textbook, The Profession of Ophthalmology.
